2022 - Manitoulin Island
This is the last post on our epic odyssey west this summer, because we booted it home after Manitoulin Island. 12,000 km over 3.5 months and 12 national parks (including one in the States) and some amazing provincial parks.
The pictures here were taken on Lake Huron’s Manitoulin Island - the largest freshwater island in the world! Five of the images below were taken on a hike along the shore of Misery Bay, much of which is a strikingly flat and segmented limestone pavement gouged by glaciers and strewn with glacial boulders. We also hiked the “Cup and Saucer” Trail to the top of the Niagara Escarpment, which extends up the Bruce Peninsula and re-emerges on Manitoulin Island.
