2022 - Fort William
When I was teaching Canadian History, I enjoyed discussing the role of the Northwest Company, their annual Rendezvous at Fort William (now Thunder Bay), their relations with Metis and Indigenous Peoples, and their battles with Lord Selkirk and the Hudson's Bay Co. So it is not surprising that Jen and I had to visit the reconstruction of Fort William, based on a detailed inventory recorded by Lord Selkirk when he seized the Fort in 1816. I wanted a way to represent the Fort in photos without it looking touristy (the selfie excepted), so I mostly shot it through windows with archaic glass.
