2021 - Newfoundland - Gros Morne North
North of Rocky Point, several outstanding features of Gros Morne National Park can be found. Chief among the is Western Brook Pond, an impressive fiord cut off from the ocean. Though we had to cancel an intend hike up to a viewpoint overlooking the fiord, Jennifer and I did take a boat ride on the "pond".
Another amazing feature for the Park is at Green Point, where tilted layers of ancient rock enabled geologists to date some of the earliest life forms of the Cambrian Period 500 million years ago, and the Ordovician Period that followed.
Broom Point is the location of an old fishing station, with fog not far offshore added appropriate atmosphere.
