Jennifer and I were desperate to escape the wildfire smoke in Alberta, so we booked a flight to Hawaii. But the lack of reasonably priced accommodations and the impending danger of Hurricane Lane caused us to cancelled our flight. Instead, we booked a visit to Paris, Delft and Amsterdam where we hoped the air pollution would be more bearable.

Ubiquitous cigarette smoking was the new unpleasantness we had to avoid as best we could. Over a week, we walked everywhere from our hotel room on the Boulevard de Magenta near the Gare du Nord: The Louvre, Notre Dame, Ste Chapelle, Pantheon, Luxemburg Garden, St Severin, Cluny Museum, Shakespeare & Co, St Sulpice, Hotel des Invalides, Hotel Biron (Rodin Museum), Montmartre, Sacre Coeur, Pompidou Centre, Musee d'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumphe, Picasso Museum, l'Orangerie, and more.
